Meet Marisol

Hi, I’m Marisol the Mallard!

Bachman Lake is my home and has been for generations. My great-grandducks flocked here around the time the dam was first built in 1901 and the lake was created. We’ve been here “flappily” ever since.

“Feather” you frequent Bachman Lake or you’re just curious about what’s going on at the best lake in Dallas, I’ve got you covered. I know everything about Dallas Water Utilities’ big plans to dredge the lake and rehabilitate the dam, and I enjoy sharing news about the project with everyone. After all, I love my home, and nothing happens at Bachman without me knowing about it, so you can count on me to keep you in the coop — I mean, loop. I’m getting duck-bumps just thinking about all the cool things in store!

While I’m no ugly duckling anymore, I’m still glowing up. And though my diet consists of plants, slugs and snails, and lots of insects, I also have a voracious appetite for learning. I guess you could call me a bit of a geek or nerd, but I let it slide like water off my back; I can’t help but love learning. I usually crack some joke when someone calls me a nerd, like, “You’re right, I AM a bird!” That always gets a few chuckles and quacks.
